17% of marketers who don’t use video rely on email marketing
Although the use of video continues to grow in organizations, new research indicates that not all marketers have yet jumped on the bandwagon – but what are they leveraging to resonate? with customers instead?
UpCity recently released its “Video Marketing Survey” for 2022, and stats suggest that among US businesses not using video marketing, the majority (17%) are turning to email marketing instead. This is followed by social media marketing (16%), search engine optimization (15%) and content marketing (14%), indicating that video isn’t the only option for generating leads and income. Overall, 11% of marketers do not currently use video or plan to do so in the future.
Among marketers who have a video marketing strategy in place, most respondents (47%) say it is only “somewhat effective” at the moment, highlighting the potential for improvement.

Many marketers may still be evaluating the potential value of video, but previous research suggests it’s already an integral part of some organizations’ strategies.
Wyzowl produced “The State of Video Marketing 2022” report, and the data indicated that 92% of marketers now view video as an important part of their marketing strategy. Around 87% say it helped them increase traffic, while 94% say they improved user understanding through video content. About 86% say it also helped generate leads, and 81% say it directly increased sales.
At the time this data was collected, some marketers said they were not yet using video, but 79% of participants in this group said they intended to do so within a year. .
